A must have for every bedroom: plants that purify the air

The bedroom is a place to relax. And for that, a calm interior, with soft colors and not too many stuff, is the most suitable. Plants that purify the air, are a must have. They convert CO2 into oxygen, can absorb particulate matter in their leaves, and improve humidity. In this article we tell you more about it and share which plant is very suitable for this.

Plants that purify the air

Research from NASA in 1989 already showed that house plants can purify the air from unhealthy substances. Like benzene, which is usually found in glue, paint, plastic and detergents. Or formaldehyde: one of the most harmful volatile organic compounds present in all homes. And trichlorethylene: solvents used in various synthetic materials.

An indoor plant that is very effective in removing these unhealthy substances from the air, is the Anthurium. In addition, this plant doesn’t need much care, so you don’t have to stress about watering. The Anthurium does well in low light conditions and is known as a long-flowering houseplant. A must have for every bedroom!

But how many plants do you need to purify the air in an entire bedroom? That depends on the size of the plants. For example, one anthurium in a pot size of 14 cm – a much-sold pot size – per 4 m2 is enough to sufficiently purify the air.
