2016 is almost over, so it’s time for the traditional recap lists. This year I have encountered two special flourishing make-up trends which are especially suitable to end the year in style.
The latest trend from the runway : Flower tattoos
The runways is always the place to spot trends and flowers are definitely hot. In April it were floral earrings and in September runways at the New York and London Fashion Week were overloaded with pressed flowers as temporary tattoo.
Rosie Assoulin showed her newest collection at the New York Fashion Week and as finishing detail tiny petals were dappled at the corners of eyes by make-up artist James Kaliardos, as if they’d just got stuck as they strolled through a wild flower forest.
During the London fashion week Mac Cosmetics transformed the models of the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi show into flower girls. Flower power seems to be back and I love it.

Newest Instagram trend: mind-blowing living nail art
Why would you only keep plants on your table? A question Australian artist Roz Borg probably has asked herself when she came up with this brilliant idea to grow succulents on her nails. Borg developed a technique that allows the plants to live and thrive on your nail bed. Yes, your read it right living plants on your nails. It’s music to the ears of every plant lover.
“I had been making real succulent jewelry and wanted to use the same application on something I had never seen baby succulents used on before,” Borg told The Huffington Post. “I Googled it and didn’t get any hits on anything, so I went for it.”
To create the look, Borg applies baby succulents to a false nail with Oasis glue, a floral adhesive. Once dry, she uses nail glue to attach the false nail to her real nail. The time-intensive process takes about an hour per hand and it’s definitely not practical, but the results are jaw-dropping. Besides that there is a sustainable side. After the glue loses its adhesive ability, you can plant the succulent normally.
Perhaps we see these succulent manicures on the runways next season, after flower earrings and flowered faces. Can’t wait for the day you can grow flowers on your nails.
