Fun activities to do during the ‘National Garden Week’

From 8 to 16 June it’s National Garden Week in The Netherlands! This is organized because gardening and everything that has to do with it is becoming more popular. The theme of the National Garden Week this year is ‘The Living Garden’. In this article we’ll highlight a few fun activities to do during the National Garden Week, so you know where to go. Enjoy!

The Living Garden

The theme of this years’ National Garden Week is ‘The Living Garden’. In a living garden you can see, feel, hear, smell and taste nature. It’s a beautiful, natural garden. Together these gardens make cities and villages much more attractive for humans and animals. And that way it becomes nicer and healthier around your own house for yourself, children and animals.

National Garden Week

The National Garden Week starts June 8th; from then on all kinds of activities are organized. For example, visit the ‘Plant day‘ in Leidschendam, where you can plant a herb plant in a pot. Or go on an evening excursion to the ‘Dinkel garden‘, which is sufficient with hybrids but also with species. Many workshops are organized, such as making compost, building a bug hotel, and creating a living garden. Take a walk along trees and gardens with Jan Paauw, a green consultant.

As you can see there is something for everyone. View all activities via this link.

National Garden Weekend

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June it’s Open Garden Weekend. A selection of small and large ornamental gardens will be open to the public. You can find the participating gardens and all activities on website of Groei & Bloei.
